国际学院版画联盟第三届版画双年展暨学术论坛开幕式 、中央美术学院国际版画研究院成立揭牌仪式在北京举行

This golden autumn, two grand events in the printmaking field happened on the sameday in Beijing. The opening ceremony of the 3rd IAPA Printmaking Biennale and Academic Symposium and Launching Ceremony of the International Printmaking Institute were held at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
Though the world hasn''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''t fully recovered from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the International Academic Printmaking Alliance (IAPA) still managed to open the 3rd Printmaking Biennial successfully. Besides, IAPA will also hold the academic symposium on Oct 18&19 (two sessions), with over 30 printmaking artists and scholars from all over the world participating both online and on-site for academic exchanges.

金秋的北京,版画界双喜临门。国际学院版画联盟第三届版画双年展暨学术论坛的开幕式、中央美术学院国际版画研究院的成立揭牌仪式,在中央美术学院隆重举行。
在全球疫情依旧不稳定的情况下,国际学院版画联盟克服重重困难,成功地在线上组织了“国际学院版画联盟第三届版画双年展”。同时,联盟还将在今、明两天举办专题学术论坛,来自全球的30余位版画学者和艺术家将通过线上、线下相结合的方式进行学术研讨和交流。

and artists from England, Ireland, Serbia, Spain, Canada, New Zealand, etc. It is quite relevant to provide Chinese and international artists with a new platform for exchanges at this special moment in history, as it can help inspire international printmaking creation, extend the depth of relevant researches, expand the global influence of printmaking, and inject new vitality into the printmaking market. In addition, to address the new issues and new demands of international printmaking researches and exchanges, the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) decided to establish the International Printmaking Institute (IPI). IPI will not only provide strong support to the Biennial and academic symposium, but also contribute greatly to improving international printmaking teaching, creation and research, and expanding the scope and depth of exchanges on printmaking. This is the first time that IAPA launched an online printmaking biennial.
This online exhibition(similar to CAFA''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''s 2020 Online Graduation Exhibition) displays more than 470 works of artists from over 40 academies covering 30+ countries on the 2ndand 3rd floors and hallways of CAFA Art Museum with the help of the Museum''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''s 3D model. Compared with the last two biennials, the number of exhibitors has increased by more than 10 academies, and new art forms such as digital print and installation have been included on the basis of traditional forms like wood cut, etching, lithograph and silk screen printing. Some artists are the heads or professors of internationally renowned art academies, and some artists are freelancers, but what they have in common is the strong individual characteristics in their works. There is no doubt that they represent the latest trends in international printmaking at present.

本次云美术展(参照中央美术学院2020届云毕业展的模式,)使用了中央美术学院美术馆的3D建筑模型,利用美术馆的二、三层楼及走廊空间,对来自全球近30个国家、40余所美术学院的艺术家的470余幅作品进行了展示。相较于前两届,参展单位增加了10余所学院。本次展览不仅包含传统的木版、铜版、石版、丝网版画,还包含了数码版画、装置艺术以及其它一些新的艺术形式。参展艺术家有世界各艺术学院的院长,也有众多国际知名的版画教授和自由艺术家,他们的作品风格多样,个性鲜明,代表了国际版画发展的最新水平。

It''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''s a great pleasure for me to be here today and meet with all of you, colleagues from China in Beijing, and friends from all over the world via the Internet. I am really happy to see you! Here, on behalf of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, I''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''d like to extend my sincere greetings to all of you, and my hearty congratulations on the opening of the 3rd Biennial and the Academic Symposium.
This spring, the unexpected outbreak and spread of the COVID-19 epidemic has caused a disaster to humankind, disrupting our normal communications and posing a severe challenge to arts and art education. On the one hand, we grieve for the loss of lives during the pandemic; but on the other hand, we see how the world fights bravely with the virus and we''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''re touched by the great spirit manifested. Arts can bring people courage, warmth, and hope, just like a torch can bring people light in the darkness. I''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''m delighted to see that art academies around the world including in China are not closed due to the pandemic. Online education has provided us with a new space and a new dimension to study and work, and we''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''ve gained a lot of new experience on art education in the information age in this process. The exhibition and symposium today are the best expression of our collaboration on promoting the development of international printmaking, as we know that we share the same destiny.
Since IAPA was established in 2016, under the guidance of Chairman Wang Huaxiang, with the concerted efforts of the Expert Committee and Secretariat and with the support of all member academies, IAPA has organized several exhibitions and academic symposiums which have made a big difference. Today, we see that another 10+ academies join us in the online Biennial, proving that the pandemic could neither stop our creation and teaching, nor cut off our contact with each other. That many Chinese colleagues, like Prof. Guo Hao, President of Yunnan Arts University, come to Beijing today to meet with our friends from all over the world demonstrates their strong willingness to deepen international cooperation.
As always, CAFA is open to establishing cooperative partnerships with art academies from all over the world. The purpose of the newly established IPI is to provide direct support to IAPA activities and promote more frequent international exchanges on printmaking. Printmaking has worked as a means of social communication upon its birth, and in the Internet age, it has more potentials waiting for us to tap. We need to seize the opportunity and give full play to printmaking in promoting social and cultural development.
As it wrote in Tao TeChing, "One engenders two, two engenders three, three engenders themyriad things." Three means a path to the infinite. As we''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''re having the 3rd biennial, I hope this could be a new start and I look greatly forward to more wonderful things to happen in the future.

今年春天以来新冠病毒肺炎疫情的全球蔓延,给人类社会带来巨大灾难,对艺术和艺术教育事业构成严峻挑战,也阻隔了我们的正常交流。我们一方面为疫情夺去许多生命而悲痛,一方面也看到全球为抗击疫情所付出的艰巨努力,体现出伟大的精神。就像生命之火总是顽强地照亮世界一样,艺术的创造能够让人鼓起勇气,艺术的交流能够让人获得温暖,艺术的力量能够让人在至暗时刻看到光明。我欣喜地看到,包括中国在内的全球艺术院校的教学没有因疫情而停顿,网上的教学和展览开辟了新的空间,拓展了新的维度,为信息时代的艺术教育探索了许多有益的经验。今天的会议和双年展云展的开幕,就是我们在共同命运下加强团结协作、共同推动国际版画交流和发展的体现。
 
自2016年“国际学院版画联盟”成立以来,在王华祥主席的领导下,在联盟的专家委员会和秘书处的努力下,在各位联盟成员所在艺术院校的支持下,开展了多次展览活动和学术研讨,产生了广泛的影响。今天,联盟的双年展采取举办云展览的方式,又增加了10余所院校的作品,可见疫情不能阻断我们的教学和创作,也不能阻断我们紧密的交流。我的中国同事——云南艺术学院院长郭浩教授和许多同事前来北京,一起与国际同行们见面,就体现了大家进一步深化合作的意愿。
 
中央美术学院很荣幸能与各国各地区艺术院校建立合作与交流关系,我们成立国际版画研究院,是为了更直接地支持联盟的活动,使国际版画交流经常化、常态化。版画从它诞生的时候开始,就带有社会传播的属性,网络时代使版画的传播属性拥有更大的空间,我们要把握机遇,让版画发挥更大的社会文化作用。
 
中国古话说:一生二,二生三,三生万物。"三"意味着通往无限。国际学院版画联盟的双年展已经是第三届了,我祝它站在新的起点上,朝向更广阔的未来。

As he mentioned in the speech that through the 3rd IAPA Biennial , we could be able to gather different colors and different countries of artists on the internet, and let everyone in the exchange of learning and learning from each other. That is the function and meaning of the establishment of IAPA. In spite of the dark clouds of the pandemic and wars, IAPA still manages to gather the world''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''s best printmaking artists together. I can say proudly that the establishment of IAPA and IPA is the most important milestone in the history of printmaking, and we all get credit for this. The exhibition and symposium today are exactly the new history that we''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''re creating.

Speech by Zhou Jirong,First Deputy Dean of the International Printmaking Institute at the Central Academy of Fine Arts:
In 2016, the International Academic Printmaking Alliance was initiated by CAFA, and then it successfully held two printmaking biennials. It is a new platform for international exchanges on printmaking, and has greatly inspired the creation and research of printmaking in different cultural backgrounds. Besides, it also helps to strengthen the communication between different countries on printmaking teaching and thus promoting the development of international printmaking. IPI will carry out its work around the teaching and researches of the Printmaking Department of CAFA, focusing on researches related to the development of printmaking techniques, promotion of printmaking mediamaterials, teaching methods, etc. Besides, IPI will also be responsible for the organization of IAPA biennials and carrying out cooperation and exchanges with art institutions all around the globe. In the meantime, IPI will regularly hold printmaking exhibitions of all types and organize academic symposiums together with Chinese and foreign art academies and institutions, aiming to create a favorable environment for artistic creation and academic researches and to encourage more artists to join us and share their experience. It''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''s my sincere hope that in the near future, IPI will truly unite all the best printmaking artists in the world and improve the status of printmaking in the academic field eventually.
